Looking to go on a European food tour? Let your tastebuds travel through Europe (sorted by country!) at these Fargo restaurants.
Ireland
Hop on a metaphorical flight to Dublin (actually, you just need to drive to West Fargo), and start your food journey on the Emerald Isle.
The Blarney Stone
1910 9th St E, West Fargo | (701) 532-1500
Wood-barrel tables, high leather seats, and a tall bar transport you to an Irish pub when you're at The Blarney.
What to order: A Guinness along with your Shepherd’s Pie or Guinness Irish Stew (or opt for some amazing Irish Nachos with their specialty Dubliner Sauce as your main meal).
England
A hop, skip, and jump from Ireland is its British neighbor. Pretend you're a royal for the day and sample these spots.
Beer & Fish Company
303 Roberts St N, Fargo
The name pretty much says it all, but this restaurant serves beer-battered and fried fish in the British tradition. Oh, and beer. They'll also serve beer.
What to order: Fish 'n' chips... and beer.
France/European
Known around the world for its incredible food, we'd be remiss to not "visit" France.
Nichole's Fine Pastry
13 8th St S, Fargo | (701) 232-6430
Nichole's is a European-inspired bakery (boulangerie, in French) and cafe that creates small-batch baked goods. As soon as you set foot inside, you'll feel like you've been transported to the rolling hills of Bourdeaux. While not exclusively French, this is the best spot to find some French-inspired eats.
What to order: Pick up a French press coffee with a croissant or macaron, then finish with a touch of Italian gelato.
Italy
The "boot" of Europe has some of the most well-known cuisine in the world. Here's where to find authentic Italian food in Fargo.
Spaghetti Western Italian
524 N Broadway Dr, Fargo
Germany
German heritage runs deep in Fargo. Here's where to get food that reflects this.
Wurst Bier Hall
630 1st Ave N, Fargo | (701) 478-2437
Sit at long, communal wooden tables at this German bier hall, which is a favorite among locals for its German-inspired food and huge taplist of beer (plus boots to drink it from!).
What to order: Start with borscht soup, then move on to sausages and sauerkraut, accompanied by a boot of beer.
Kroll's Diner
1033 45th St S, Fargo | (701) 492-2319
Perhaps the most quintessential diner in Fargo, Kroll’s is a 50s-style restaurant serving up German and American dishes.
If you’re going to try German food with a local twist, this is the spot to do it.
What to order: To start your authentic meal, get a bowl of homemade knoephla soup – a classic dumpling-esque soup made by locals with German heritage. For the main, go for fleischkuechle, a patty of seasoned ground beef wrapped in pastry and deep-fried. To finish the meal, grab a slice of kuchen, a traditional German fruit and custard-filled pastry.
Norway
Many locals trace their ancestry back to Norway, so it's only natural to have a few places serving up Norwegian fare.
Sons of Norway
722 2nd Ave N, Fargo | (701) 232-9222
The Sons of Norway has a mission to preserve Norwegian heritage and culture in society, which they do (and do well).
The Kringen Lodge #25 is just one of the ways they add some Norwegian flair to the Fargo community, by serving very Norwegian lunches every weekday from 11am to 1pm.
What to order: Grab one of their four homemade soups, daily specials, and handmade lefse (a must-try!).
You can eat across the pond without ever leaving Fargo using this list. Where will you "travel" first?
