Now that the weather is nice, downtown has really begun to liven up past the work hour. It’s great to come downtown and catch a bite to eat or grab a drink with a friend. When the weather is as nice as it’s been I find every excuse to be outside. Although there are many all over the Fargo-Moorhead area, here are a few of my favorite patios downtown. Fort Noks is great spot for some drinks and offers some really great people watching. They also have live music out on the patio every once in awhile. If it’s food you’re in the mood for Side Street has a great patio and great burgers. They run daily specials for drinks and food so you can always find a good deal. Monte’s has a nice secluded patio in the back of the restaurant. There is more shade and privacy then most other patios in the area.
Although sometimes it can get a little windy and if you don’t mind close proximity to people/pets passing by, the sidewalk makes for an excellent outdoor dining option. Juano’s and Josie’s Corner make for some great spots to stay outdoors and still treat yourself to some great drinks and food. I sometimes prefer these places when the sidewalks are busy because you never know who you may run into.
Just across the river, literally walking distance, you can find some more great options. My favorite patio is at Atomic right off of Main in Moorhead. They have a great little patio with lots of sun to catch some rays while reading a book. I am not sure on the rules for each establishment but these places might make for some great options for those of you with a dog.
