Every winter, the Fargo-Moorhead community comes together to embrace the chill and celebrate all the frosty fun that winter brings—because around here, cold really is cool! Frostival began in 2016 as a way to celebrate the season, even in the dead of winter. Frostival packs nine days this year—January 31 to February 8, 2025—with crowd favorites like Cardboard Sled Racing and fresh events to keep the party going.

Frostival Kick-Off Party
Gather with friends around cozy campfires, bring your skates to take a spin on the ice rink, enjoy music from one of Fargo-Moorhead's hottest bands, Heart&Soul, sip on drinks from local breweries, and kick off winter with a night full of energy and excitement. Winter really is cool, so bundle up and join us as we dive into a fantastic Frostival!

Golden Puck Pond Classic
The ultimate outdoor hockey showdown will feature 16 teams and endless action. First place will win a half-year supply of Michelob Golden Light, plus more.

Freez'n for a Reason
Camp outside for two evenings to raise awareness of Veteran Suicide. Raise money for Veterans programs and the Golden Drive for Homeless Kids. Make a free-will donation on February 2 for breakfast.

Frostival Coloring Contest
Add some color to the cold with a winter-themed coloring contest for a chance to win a sled! Pick up coloring pages at Rustad Recreation Center, West Fargo Fire Departments, and West Fargo Police Departments, or print them from wfparks.org starting February 1. Submit your artwork at Rustad Recreation Center by February 8. Ten winners will be chosen, and the contest is open to children ages 12 and under.

Silver Snowflake Search
Join the hunt for Silver Snowflakes in West Fargo. Starting February 1, follow daily clues at wfparks.org or Rustad Recreation Center to find hidden snowflakes and win extravagant prizes—perfect for a fun family winter adventure.

Winter Birding Festival
Learn about the many over-wintering birds in the area with the Fargo Park District and Audobon Great Plains at Forest River Park. This event is free for all skill levels. Hot cocoa and a limited number of binoculars will be provided, so bring your own if you have them.

Cardboard Sled Races
Time to flex your recycling muscles! Gather your supplies and test your hand at creating an amazing cardboard sled. Enjoy sled races and a contest for the most creative sled.

Fun at Frozen Fortress
Frozen Fortress is full of fun, including a scavenger hunt, skating, and winter favorites like hot chocolate, marshmallows, and hot dogs by the fire. Explore unique experiences like beer poking and craft brews from Swing Barrel Brewing Co., plus music, face-painting, and free activities, including sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoe rentals, and an interpretive hike with River Keepers.

Junkyard West Winter Dash 5K
Join us for the first annual Junkyard West Winter Dash 5K, a fun run/walk through West Fargo’s streets and parks hosted by Junkyard Brewing, Every Runday, and SoleMOTION Race Management. After the race, enjoy a FREE drink (21+) at Junkyard Brewing and post-race festivities!

Winter Warm-Up at the Rourke
The Rourke welcomes the public to warm up with a complimentary hot cocoa bar, fire pits in the M. Dorian Clemedtson Memorial Sculpture Court, and a market for handmade mugs and winter weather accessories in the Main Gallery.

Adult Snowball Fight
Wild Terra's Adult Snowball Fight is canceled due to warmer weather and a lack of snow.

Winter Trail Days
Join the North Country Trail Association and our Dakota Prairie Chapter for a free day of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the trails at Viking Ship Park. Free instruction and rental equipment, warm beverages, and treats will be provided.

Snowball Scramble Business Cup
West Fargo Parks' Snowball Scramble Business Cup is canceled due to lack of participation.
Get ready to chill out and swing into action at the inaugural Snowball Scramble Business Cup! River's Bend Park will become a frosty fairway for this exclusive company-only golf tournament. Assemble your team of four golfers and brave the winter chill. This 9-hole adventure replaces the traditional golf ball with a tennis ball, adding extra excitement as you aim for that elusive hole-in-one.

Snow Golf
Embrace the chill and swap your golf ball for a tennis ball at our unique Snow Golf event. River's Bend Park will transform into a frosty fairway for this one-of-a-kind tournament. This North of Normal twist on a summer favorite welcomes everyone—family, friends, and golfers of all skill levels—to enjoy the thrill of golf against a snowy backdrop.
