Position Objective and Purpose

The Social Media & Content Coordinator supports Visit Fargo-Moorhead's marketing efforts by creating engaging, timely content that inspires visitors and residents to explore Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo. This position manages the daily execution of the organization's social media channels and assists with content creation, community engagement, email marketing, influencer partnerships, website content, and other digital marketing initiatives.

This is a hands-on creative role ideal for someone who loves the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community, understands social media culture, and enjoys finding and sharing the stories, businesses, events, attractions, and experiences that make the destination unique.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Manage daily posting and scheduling across Visit Fargo-Moorhead social media channels.
  • Create social content including photos, short-form video, stories, graphics/templates, captions, and other platform-specific content.
  • Monitor social channels and respond to comments, questions, tags, and messages as appropriate.
  • Proactively engage with local businesses, attractions, events, partners, visitors, and community accounts.
  • Identify social trends and recommend timely opportunities for Visit Fargo-Moorhead.
  • Maintain the social media portion of the department's content calendar.
  • Attend community events, attractions, restaurants, businesses, and other locations to capture original content.
  • Assist with writing and publishing website/blog content.
  • Build and distribute e-newsletters based on established content and email strategies.
  • Assist with email list maintenance and audience segmentation.
  • Coordinate logistics and communication for approved influencer/creator partnerships.
  • Gather user-generated content and maintain appropriate usage permissions.
  • Assist with website updates, event-related landing pages, and other routine content maintenance.
  • Monitor basic social and content performance and provide results to the Senior Marketing Manager.
  • Assist with content needs for sports tourism, conventions, events, leisure tourism, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Assist the marketing team with additional projects as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of relevant marketing, social media, communications, or content creation experience preferred. Internships, freelance work, student organizations, or other applicable experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, platform best practices, and how content should be adapted for different audiences and channels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and content needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, receive feedback, and adapt content based on marketing goals and brand standards.
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community.

Abilities, work environment, compensation

  • Primarily indoors in an office environment, with an option to work remotely after a probationary period.
  • Light lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Sitting and typing for long periods of time.

  • Monday-Friday: variable per week based on the volume of work. Various travel and attendance at industry functions.
