Special Olympics this weekend in Fargo-Moorhead

Special Olympics in Fargo

Be a fan of sport, spirit, opportunity, and dignity. Go and support Special Olympics of North Dakota at the 2011 Summer Special Olympics Games of North Dakota this weekend (June 3 & 4). Events will be held at the Fargo South High School Campus and all are free to the public. Some of the featured speakers include Mayor Dennis Walaker, Lt Governor Drew Wrigley, and the President/CEO of Special Olympics North Dakota. Senator Kent Conrad and hockey star Chay Genoway will also be attending the 2011 Summer Special Olympics Games.

The aquatics, bocce ball, power lifting, and volleyball competitions will take place during the day today and at 5:30 this evening the opening ceremonies will begin at the Fargo South football field. The parade of Special Olympic athletes, North Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run, performance by Connie Hill as well as the Nightline Drumline will all be included in the opening ceremonies.

The track and field events will be held tomorrowand the 2011 Special Olympics Summer Games will be concluded with the closing ceremony at 2:00 tomorrow on the Fargo South Football Field.
