Fargo-Moorhead is home to one the largest high school wrestling tournaments in the country. The FARGODOME will be buzzing Wednesday and Thursday with up to 5,000 athletes, coaches, fans and staff. This year is the 5th year of “Rumble on the Red” and it’s a big deal! Not only to the competitors, but for the community too!
I personally do not know a lot about wrestling. But I do enjoy sports. During the last couple of years I have had the chance to experience this event both as a spectator and as a volunteer. For starters, there is some hardcore competition going on. It’s fun to watch. With over 60 Varsity, 50 Junior Varsity and 24 youth teams the dome is rocking. They also have this raised, center ring where the championship bouts take place…quite a cool atmosphere…for both a spectator and for the competitor. The tournament is well-run on 19 mats. At any given time there could be 19 different bouts takings place. It’s a pretty crazy thing to see in action. If the dome is buzzing, that pretty much means that the community will be too!
Events like this are such a great thing for the community. New faces from surrounding states are visiting Fargo-Moorhead, some for the very first time. While they are here they will be taking in everything from our dining, shopping and attractions when they are not cheering on their athletes. This event brings a lot of people to town so let’s hope the snow subsides quickly so they can make the most of their visit to Fargo-Moorhead.
Have your checked out the Rumble? Traveling to Fargo-Moorhead for the first time? We’d love to hear your comments!
