Fargo-Moorhead impresses football fans

NDSU Bison Football

Many of you probably saw the article written just a couple weeks ago about how hard it can be for Fargoans to remain humble after all the accolades we’ve been receiving as of late. So to test your humility, here are a few more nice things people said about Fargo-Moorhead.

As many of you know, the success of the North Dakota State University football team brought people to the Fargo-Moorhead area that may never have come otherwise. This gave the community a chance to make good impressions on people from around the country.

The first team the NDSU Bison faced in the NCAA FCS Playoffs was James Madison University of Virginia. Here’s what one of them had to say about their experience….

“In any other town, I would expect to be ostracized when in enemy territory. Other than one isolated incident with a very passionate Bison fan, we were met with friendly comments and questions about where we were from and how we were enjoying Fargo.”

“Are you kidding me?!” a fellow JMU fan exclaimed, “I can’t even be mad at them for beating us! They’re just too freaking nice here!

See the rest of that blog post here.

The second week of the playoffs, Lehigh University (Pennsylvania) came to town. Many of them had similar experiences. Take a look:

“On behalf of the Lehigh fans who made the trip to Fargo, just wanted to thank the NDSU fans for making us feel welcome. Everywhere we went, we were greeted with ‘Welcome to Fargo’. The atmosphere outside the Fargodome was awesome.”

“The tailgate experience was incredible and we felt like we were at an NFL or FBS game. Your generosity was unmatched as we walked through your tailgates and you welcomed us with open arms, offered us beer and food, took pictures with us and were just so welcoming and appreciative that we made the 1400 mile trek.”

“I didn’t get to see much of Fargo, but I thought the people at the hotel and at the mall and restaurants were nice. I also thought the experience at the Fargodome was fantastic –18,111 people who really care and treated this FCS-level team with the passion normally reserved for major college and pro teams.”

Here’s the rest of that story.

The final team the Bison faced in the Fargodome was the Georgia Southern Eagles. It would appear that they too had an enjoyable experience in Fargo-Moorhead…

“As one of the folk who made the trip up for the game, I have to say that your fans were, without question, some of the most welcoming that I have personally ever experienced….We cannot say enough about how well we were treated. The best team won yesterday, but our experience in our disappointment over the loss was a winning one.”

“I wanted to come by and thank the NDSU fans I met this weekend in Fargo. To a person, each one was welcoming and hospitable… The Fargodome was a better facility than I had been led to believe, and the tailgating rivals any place in FCS!”

Even though none of these teams got a victory in the Fargodome, the fans did not go away with a bitter taste in their mouth after experiencing the great hospitality and facilities we have here!

In a short while, many people from the FM area will be in Frisco, Texas to watch the Bison take on the undefeated Sam Houston State Bearkats (Huntsville, TX) in the FCS National Championship…here’s hoping we can represent the FM area just as well away from home and maybe even convince a few Texans to come visit F-M!

Oh, and GO BISON! 🙂
