It’s marathon week in Fargo-Moorhead

Fargo Marathon

Fargo Marathon on Broadway

The Fargo Marathon returns this week in Fargo-Moorhead.  Now in its 6th year the marathon hopes to bring 20,000+ runners to the metro area.  This is going to be a huge weekend for Fargo-Moorhead.  Consider approximately 20,000 runners, add on their friends, fans and families and you get a pretty exciting weekend to spend in the area.  Area businesses are staffing up in anticipation of the event.

Home base for the event is of course the FargoDome.  There you will find the Health & Fitness Expo and pasta feed.  It is also where all participants can get registered and pick up their packets The dome is certainly going to be a hopping place. If you want to get out of the heat (the weather is supposed to be pretty nice this weekend) the dome is a great place to view the finish line and catch your favorite runners on the big screen.  The energy inside the dome is electric.

The most fun of course is found on and along the course.  The route this year will take runners on both sides of the Red River to both Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN.  Some of the area’s best come out to provide entertainment at every turn and citizens and visitors line the streets with their “bison bells” to cheer the runners on.  Finding a nice perch in downtown Fargo is a real treat too as the area shops are open, many with special deals that make the venture worthwhile.

We’re looking forward to the marathon this year.  It is going to be bigger and better than ever, like it has been every year since the event started.  If you need some help finding a place to stay the FM CVB staff would be glad to help.  As you can imagine hotels are filling up, but we can help you find the vacancies or other lodging options.  Here’s to a great marathon week.  We’ll be out getting pictures and footage to share with you later!

Here’s a little footage we got last year of runners on Broadway.  Just a snapshot of what is to come again this weekend.
