Fargo-Moorhead used to have a Restaurant Week, but realized that seven days just wasn't enough to appreciate all the amazing local restaurants (220+ of them!) that we have in Fargo and its sister cities Moorhead and West Fargo. Instead, we're celebrating local restaurants all summer long.

Fargo-Moorhead residents love food, and locals always have a favorite spot to recommend. Johnathan Judd, the mayor of Moorhead, Minnesota, let us in on some of his favorite places.

Read on to find Mayor Judd's favorite restaurants, why he loves them, and what he'd recommend from each.

1. Usher's House

This casual fine dining restaurant has been a Moorhead pillar for over a decade, serving upscale dishes from the exposed kitchen in a brand new space. The food fits the ambiance with items like elk sirloin and truffle mac and cheese with lobster and bread crumbs on the menu.

Mayor Judd's recommendation:

Crabby BLT

2. Rustica Eatery & Tavern

Spanish and Italian influences swirl with delicious American flavors at Rustica, which Mayor Judd loves for the great atmosphere. The Eatery section offers up higher end meals while the Tavern serves small plates and pizzas throughout the evenings.

Mayor Judd's recommendation:

Everything! Depends the day and your mood, but you can find something delicious always.

3. Snap Dragon

The Shih family has been preparing fresh, flavorful Asian cuisine using old family recipes for over 60 years, bringing the taste of the Orient to the Midwest. Mayor Judd loves Snap Dragon for it's great family atmosphere (and of course the delicious food!).

Mayor Judd's recommendation:

Create your own stir fry, or opt for the large and tasty buffet.

4. Kobe's Japanese Cuisine

Serving up sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, and several lunch platter options, Kobe’s is a great choice for a casual Japanese steakhouse. It's a fun family option, especially if you sit at the hibachi grill and let the chef prepare your meals right in front of you.

Mayor Judd's recommendation:

Sushi
