Everything you need to know about Frostival in Fargo

This year’s Frostival takes place from Friday, January 25 through Saturday, January 26. Fargo and its sister cities Moorhead and West Fargo will be hopping with winter-themed fun that will have you believing #ColdIsCool.

Where do Frostival events take place?

Most major events are happening at four locations across the tri-city area.

Which Events are NEW to Frostival this year?

Beard Contest
Base Camp | 409 Broadway N, Fargo 

If you’ve got a gnarly beard and like to show it off, this contest was basically made for you. Put on by the Beard Association of North Dakota, there are many divisions available to enter your face. Check the beard invasion webpage for some inspiration.

Norseman & Norsewoman Challenge
Frozen Fortress | 202 1st Ave N, Moorhead

Show off your inner Viking with this three-hour test of endurance, agility, strength, stamina, balance, and perseverance. Events include: obstacle course, uphill snowshoe run, and log flipping.

Human Curling
Icicle Island | 598 1st Ave S, Fargo

Send your teammate (aka the ‘stone’) down the hill aiming for targets at the bottom!

Reverse Dog Sled Racing
Frozen Fortress | 202 1st Ave N, Moorhead

Give your pup a break and pull him around for a change! Two pullers (humans) will race with their dog in the sled to beat out the other racers.

Undie Run
Base Camp | 409 Broadway N, Fargo

Race down Broadway in just your knickers! This event used to be part of Frosty Cup, but will be on its own this year. Participate for only $10 and receive a pair of Frostival undies in return for your bravery.

What are the top family-friendly Frostival events?

Kids Winter Boot Camp
Scheels Arena | 4225 31st Ave S, Fargo

This Frostival hub will be a great spot to warm up with your family on Saturday. With a whole bunch of events for the kiddos like carriage rides, inflatable games, open skating, and more!

Frozen Fortress
Hjemkomst Center | 202 1st Ave N, Moorhead

All day events will keep everyone in the family entertained with a River Keepers Winter Scavenger Hunt, yard games, marshmallow roasting & hot chocolate, and more.

Cardboard Sled Racing (*NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR*)
Icicle Island | Dill Hill | 598 1st Ave S, Fargo

One of Frostival’s most popular events, gather your supplies and test your hand at creating a cardboard sled and then race down with the whole fam! There are many different ways to win, from crossing the finish line first, to designing the most fun sled!

Cocoa Cook-Off
Opening Kick-Off | Base Camp | 409 Broadway N, Fargo

Sample many local businesses hot cocoa & vote on which is Fargo-Moorhead’s best.

North of Normal Games

The North of Normal Games are a series of competitions across the entire city that range from the quirky (think reverse dog-sledding) to sports you usually associate with summer (like golf and kickball!). See them all on the North of Normal Games webpage.

Kickball Tournament
MB Johnson Park | 3601 11th St N, Moorhead

Compete in a round robin tournament in either the upper or lower division. Tailgating permits are available for $35 to BYOB and cookout onsite!

Snow Golf & Disc Golf
Elmwood Park | 500 13th Ave W, West Fargo

Swing at a tennis ball using your golf clubs in this 18-hole scramble! Or test your disc golf skills at Woodlawn Park.

Outdoor Volleyball Tournament

An outdoor wintry volleyball tournament… don’t worry, the snow will cushion your dives!

What are the Top Frostival Events for Adult Fun?

Opening Kick-Off
Friday, January 25th | Base Camp | 409 Broadway N, Fargo 

Roast s’mores over an open fire or hop on a carriage ride and then enjoy live music from Boomtown in a heated outdoor tent, have a beer, sample a variety of hot cocoa, and more. 

Base Camp
Saturday, January 26th | 409 Broadway N, Fargo

Start the day out with a workout of the day with Crossfit Ice House and then move on to the Frosty Cup drinking games. Shortly after, the Undie Run will make you brave the cold. For those of you that enjoy a good beard, check out the Beard Invasion contest before Two-Way Crossing takes the stage in the heated tent.

Free Trolley
Valley Bus will be running a FREE shuttle on Saturday starting at 11am and finishing at Base Camp at 4:45pm. Hop on the shuttle at any of the main hubs to catch the shuttle!
