ValleyCon 46

ValleyCon 46 is the largest regional celebration of popular culture over a three-day weekend. ValleyCon 46 features the best in film and television, books, game tournaments, comics, books, toys, art and fun for all ages! ValleyCon is a NON-PROFIT event with our main beneficiary the Children’s Hospital at Sanford and their EXTRALIFE campaign. Our celebrated LIVE auction occurs during the Adults Cosplay costume contest Saturday night and features excellent items donated! This year the auction will also be LIVE on the internet!

VALLEYCON 46 Is persevering during the pandemic with the guidance of Public Health and ALL safety protocols will be observed including: temperature checks upon entering, masks are mandatory, hand sanitizers throughout the event area, distancing and also increased ventilation!

Highlights include our guests: SEAN PATRICK FLANERY and GIGI EDGLEY along with paranormal author and researchers ADRIAN LEE and HEATHER MORRIS and returning guest (and ValleyCon favorite) DC and Comics artist TOM NGUYEN! A wide array of local and regional authors will be on hand with workshops and their works including JUSTIN CANCILLIERE and the BISMAN AUTHOR GROUP as well as author CHRISTOPHER SCHMITZ and author and returning guest from many ValleyCon’s ago TINA HOLLAND. Local Cosplayer enthusiast PAIGE KIHLE will join in the fun with our stable of local and regional returning guests including JOEL “MOJO” MOEN, BRAD THINGVOLD and many more authors, artists and vendors!

The Fargo Fantastic Film Festival is in year 18 and is now combined with ValleyCon! The FFFF was to open at the Fargo Theatre but due to the theatre being closed for COVID, the fest will debut at the Ramada on THURSDAY, OCT. 15th with ValleyCon opening 3pm FRIDAY, OCT. 16th. Both will take place with one admission for both the entire weekend at the Ramada! The KIDS FFFF takes place on Saturday and Sunday mornings to early afternoon with films from all over the world for kids and some even BY kids!

ValleyCon 46 features programming geared towards fun but with an added bonus of educational benefit. We feature professional writers, actors and artists who are actively working in-and are at the top of-their fields in panels and workshops, all for a low cost pass! Most of our guests participate in workshops around the country that cost those attendees hundreds of dollars each but for the cost of less than 2 movie tickets (matinees, even!) ValleyCon attendees can meet, talk and work with these highly regarded professionals.

ValleyCon 46 also continues its’ awards functions, with awards for achievement in illustrative and literary arts. ValleyCon has been honored with permission to name our awards after true giants in the field like Roger and Julie Corman, Edgar Rice Burroughs, H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. Permissions were granted from the official estates of all these incredible talents. Awards will be announced at the banquet, Saturday, October 17th.

ValleyCon also features a huge vendor and exhibitor’s room! ValleyCon 46 has a full all-weekend long slate of presentations, panels, events, demonstrations, and video games and game tournaments of all kinds. ValleyCon is very family-friendly with kid’s events all during the day, especially on Saturday with the KIDS COSTUME CONTEST! ValleyCon Saturday night features special live events like the Cosplay Costume Contest, a costume contest for adults and teens (and open for all ages to enjoy!) with our ANDREW HELD MEMORIAL CHARITY AUCTION benefitting Sanford Children’s Hospital live and ONLINE during the judging! ValleyCon 46 kicks off Friday, 3pm, October 16th, with panels and demonstrations which continue thru the weekend. ValleyCon will celebrate and educate on the importance of popular culture as well as other programming with all the fun stuff: DR. WHO, Star Wars, Marvel comics’ films, DC comics and films, vampires, werewolves, zombies and other things going bump in the night and much more!
