The New York Kammermusiker 16th Annual North Dakota Winds of Change Concerts
The New York Kammermusiker is returning to North Dakota for the group’s sixteenth annual Winds of Change Concert series.
Formed in 1969 by ND native Ilonna Pederson, this non-profit organization seeks to reintroduce the instruments and the music of the double-reed band to modern audiences. The group prepares modern scores from long-neglected musical manuscripts that they discover during their extensive research.
The small, double-reed chamber music ensemble is returning to Ellendale and its Historic Opera House. They will play in Fargo venues and have a live performance with Tal, the Orangutan, at the Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
The New York Kammermusiker travels the world presenting a wide range of double-reed music from the Renaissance era through Contemporary periods. This group is known for their experimental and improvisatory performances — often performing music written for their own unique sound — and for the excellence of their performances, regardless of what particular music is on the program.
