The How and the Why at Theatre B

What

Theatre B is currently producing The How and the Why by Sarah Treem. The play is a unique look into the world of evolutionary biology and the nature vs nurture debate.
The How and the Why by Sarah Treem (The Affair), is a play delving into the dilemmas of belonging and finding one’s place, nature versus nurture, and the social dynamics between women who face a choice between career and family.
The play is a beautiful example of the kind of work we produce – thought-provoking, complex, asking the biggest questions of our lives, with delightful moments of theatrical magic created between the two actors on stage, and no easy answers.

When

The How and the Why runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. (February 18 – March 6), and Sundays, Feb. 27 & March 6 at 2:00 p.m. ASL Interpretation provided on February 26 and Audio Description provided on February 27.

More Info

The play features Theatre B ensemble members, Carrie Wintersteen and Clare Lynch. Directed by Mik Reid, The How and the Why is full of unexpected twists, striking discoveries, and exploration of the deepest connections between humans, all the way down to our genetic code. The play also asks deep questions about societal expectations, family relationships, and the personal costs of our choices. The play is complex and humanizing, and in true Theatre B fashion, offers lots of questions to ponder without telling the audience what the answers are.
