Imagine the greatest R & B hits from Motown and Memphis performed LIVE by a full symphony orchestra and twelve-piece funk band! Hits by Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Otis Redding, Blues Brothers, Martha & the Vandelas and more will be brought to life at the eight annual “SYMPHONY ROCKS” outdoor concert event. The concert begins with jazzy and dramatic pieces performed by the FM Symphony (Gershwin’s “Porgy & Bess” Overture and “Mars” from “The Planets”). Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome joins the orchestra on stage for unforgettable interpretations of classics like “River Deep Mountain High,” “Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Soul Man,” “Take Me To the River” and more.
Two guest vocalists will be joining us this year, both with local ties and both contestants on “The Voice” – Ronnie Allen (Concordia graduate now performing with “Sounds of Blackness” in Minneapolis) and Andrina Brogden (West Fargo native now living and performing in Minneapolis).
With casual seating on general admission benches, lawns perfect for dancing or lounging on blankets, this is a wonderful show for ALL ages. (Note, all reserved seating sold out within two weeks, but there are plenty of General Admission Bench and Lawn tickets still available). Performance at Bluestem Amphitheatre begins at 8:00 pm, seating opens at 6:30 pm.
Also, you can start the fun early by coming out for the Pre-Concert Party before the show.
