National Library Week

Friends of the Moorhead Library Spring Social
Sunday, April 3, 1pm – 4pm
Kick off National Library Week on Sunday April 3 from 1pm to 4pm with the Friends of the Moorhead Library, featuring a mini book sale and art auction. Light appetizers by Urban Foods Catering and live music by the Max Johnk Group.

National Library Week Scavenger Hunt
Monday, April 4 – Saturday, April 9
Learn how to navigate the library, explore different book genres, authors, and the Dewey decimal system with a library scavenger hunt. This fun activity is perfect for youth of all ages! Stop by the Moorhead Library’s front desk to pick up a blank scavenger hunt worksheet and turn it in for a prize.

Quilled Bookpage Take-Home Art Kit
Monday, April 4 – Saturday, April 9
Pick up this exciting take-home kit from the library and learn how to transform discarded books into art you can enjoy! This event is made possible thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Midwest Cookbook Author Panel (Virtual Event) and Watch Party
Tuesday, April 5, 7pm – 8pm
Join Lake Agassiz Regional Library for a virtual panel featuring Minnesota cookbook authors Zoë François (Zoë Bakes Cakes, Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day) and Beth Dooley (In Winter’s Kitchen, The Northern Heartland Kitchen). Hear how these authors’ work has been influenced by the local produce, flavors, traditions, and the seasons of the upper Midwest.

Admission is free thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. This virtual event will be moderated by Food of the North co-founder and co-author of Midwest Mediterranean Megan Myrdal.

If you are unable to attend virtually from home, or would like to watch with friends and others, join us in the library and enjoy popcorn and refreshments!

National Library Outreach Day
Wednesday, April 6, 9am – 9pm
The Book Truck is on tour! Visit us around town and enjoy discounts and activities at a few local businesses throughout the day.

Library Movie Day
Friday, April 8, 10am – 6pm
Take a break and join us for a Movie Day! We’ll be screening some favorite movies featuring great libraries and librarians all day. Enjoy popcorn and lemonade while you watch. Call the library at 218-233-7594 for a list of movie titles.

Lalo’s Lunchbox
Saturday, April 9, 10am – 11am
Don’t miss this engaging sketch comedy, theater and puppet show featuring comedy and sing-alongs perfect for children ages three and up! Join Lalo, a fun-loving shopkeeper with a magical lunchbox, and his friends as they handle unpredictable food erupting out of Lalo’s Lunchbox! This zany show teaches kids about healthy foods and being kind to others. This event is made possible thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
