Moorhead Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration

We will hold a recognition event to honor and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day in Moorhead, MN. The event will include an intentional partnership between the White Earth Veterans and Honor Guard, American Legion Post 21, City of Moorhead, Backyard Grilling Co., Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Veterans Resource Center, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

A schedule will include an Honor Guard Ceremony, Mayor Shelly Carson’s official proclamation for every second Tuesday of October as Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a welcome and land acknowledgment from Associate Provost Frank King Jr., Indigenous singers Michael Gabbard and Tim Cottonwood, and feast inspired-by Tanya Tee RedRoad and prepared by Backyard Grilling Co. and emcee’d by Jered Pigeon.
