Homeless Memorial Day | December 21 | 6:45p Procession, 7p Memorial
The annual observance of Homeless Memorial Day is Monday is December 21, 2020, the first day of winter and longest night of the year. Due to COVID-19, this year’s observance will be a bit different. It will be entirely outdoors (weather permitting) and livestreamed on Facebook. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be in place. (Should weather hinder the event, an observance will still take place via live stream on Facebook.) All community members are invited to participate in a 6-block walk of remembrance in downtown Fargo. The procession leaves from Broadway Square, Broadway and 2nd Ave. N., at 6:45 pm and will proceed north on Broadway before returning to Broadway Square where a brief Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Those unable to walk should gather at Broadway Square. The event remembers and honors people in our community who died as the result of their experience with homelessness.
