ABOUT MIKE ZITO: Mike Zito is one of the most lauded artists in the contemporary blues arena today and rightfully so, but for him, the thing that counts the most is maintaining his honesty, authenticity and integrity. Those are the qualities that have steered Zito’s career since the beginning and continue to define every effort he’s offered since. In 2022, Zito released the double live album Blues for the Southside. Recorded on November 26, 2021, at the Old Rock House in St. Louis, Missouri, and produced by Mike Zito, Blues for the Southside showcases Zito (guitar, vocals) and his stellar band in full fury with special guests Tony Campanella, Dave Kalz and guitar wizard Eric Gales. After the release of Blues for the Southside, Zito joined forces with Gulf Coast Records label mate Albert Castiglia and created the Blood Brothers tour.
ABOUT SCOTT ELLISON: Singer-songwriter, guitarist Scott Ellison emerged as a blues-rock powerhouse in his hometown of Tulsa, OK in the late 1970’s. With Eric Clapton’s and Freddie King’s backing bands at the time both hailing from the region, Ellison’s guitar shredding heavy blues style quickly brought him regional and then national attention. He first gained notice playing with Jessica James (Conway Twitty’s daughter) in 1977, and national blues audiences learned about him via his work in iconic bluesman Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown’s touring band in 1980-81. Beyond the traditional blues world, Ellison has also penned songs that have appeared in films such as Reindeer Games, Feast of Love and Home Front, as well in TV shows Sister Sister, Santa Barbara, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Joan of Arcadia, Saving Grace, Home Front and Justified.
ABOUT THE BLUE WAILERS: The Blue Wailers are a traditional 6-member blues group based in Minnesota. The six-piece band has years of playing experience. Randy Schrenk plays slide guitar in the style of the best traditional players and sings lead vocals and harmonies. Marty Olson growls out lead vocals and improvises some great lead guitar. Bob Waters stirs the audience with a soulful blues harp. Kari Steen or Dave Grosz usually join in for some fancy finger-work on the organ or piano. And, of course, no band can be great without a great rhythm section. Drummer Mike Carbone and bassist Tim Jorgensen fill the bill.
ABOUT HEART & SOUL: bands in the Fargo-Moorhead area, Heart&Soul, generates energy and excitement everywhere they perform… “We know how to get the party started and keep the dance floor jumping all night long”!!!
