A Summer Concert in the Park
Two area United Methodist Church bands will combine forces to present a family-friendly socially distanced concert in front of the Island Park Gazebo on Wednesday, August 19th. Joy for the Journey of First United Methodist Church and The Big House Band of Faith United Methodist Church will perform during the concert. The show, which begins at 7:00 p.m. that evening, will feature a wide variety of popular contemporary and traditional Christian music. The performance is free of admission and open to all ages. People who wish to attend are encouraged to bring either a blanket or lawn chairs to the concert. Ushers will be on hand to ensure that social distancing is maintained. Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks for the safety of themselves and others in the audience. For those who don’t feel safe in an audience setting, the concert will also be live streamed on Faith UMC’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FargoFaithUnitedMethodistChurch and on their website at www.fargofaithumc.org.
This will mark the third summer in row that this concert has been presented. However, putting on the show this summer in 2020 will be a different experience in addition to performing for other reasons as compared to recent years.
“This has been a hard time for many people for so many different reasons.” says Christopher Hanson, director of The Big House Band. “We debated the reasons to put this concert on this summer, and we realized that we wanted people to have a chance to just get outside and enjoy some music. This is an opportunity to enjoy a summer evening in a socially distanced outdoor setting while taking in some great inspirational music.”
The open space and large area of Island Park will make it easy to socially distance concert goers providing them a safe and fun concert experience. The concert is free of admission and open to all ages.
“This show is an outreach to the community offering them a chance to just ease their minds for an hour while enjoying a summer concert in the park.” Hanson said. “Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, bring some snacks, and relax while enjoying some great music.”
