When the weather starts to warm up and the daylight lasts a little longer into the evenings, many of us get excited to get out of the house and go do things. Here are 9 Fargo-Moorhead area events coming up in the next few months that you might want to check out.
1. UNGLUED CRAFT FEST
February 26 & 27
Plains Art Museum
Take care of that cabin fever and get inspired with over 70 carefully curated modern handmade makers, artists, and crafters. Friday night, February 26 from 5pm-9pm is the Craft Fest Gala Night! This is the opening shopping night that is ticketed to allow for a fancy evening of shopping. The $30 ticket for the Craft Fest Gala Night includes a drink and appetizers by Mosaic Catering & Events, live jazz and $5 Unglued cash to spend. Saturday, February 27 from 9am-4pm is the all day FREE ADMISSION Craft Fest celebration. Bursting at the seams with sweet fun and 70 amazing vendors setting up shop, you’ll also find swag bags to the first 100 attendees, live music, free demos and workshops, and more! New this year is a Craft Beer Garden with Drekker Brewing Company, Junkyard Brewing Company, and The Fargo Brewing Company, a whole new variety of FREE workshops for kids and adults, and a young makers market.
2. BACON & BEER FESTIVAL
The Bacon and Beer Festival is the premier event and celebration of all things brews and bacon. The mission of the Bacon and Beer Festival is to provide education, recognition and downright gluttony of America’s other pastime, all while showcasing shining stars of swine and providing exposure to one of the fastest and on-trend entertainment events in the nation. From community leaders to students, local residents to the greater Midwest region, thousands of Bacon and Beer enthusiasts will enjoy hours of sampling the best bacon-inspired dishes with carefully selected beer pairings.
3. CELTIC FESTIVAL
The 13th Annual Celtic Festival is a celebration of the rich culture of the seven Celtic Nations featuring the intriguing history, arts and traditions of Brittany, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Galicia, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Enjoy lyrical Celtic music played by great bands from the community and region. Watch dancers’ impressive footwork. The festival features entertainment stages, several presentations about folk traditions of the past and present, activities booths and Celtic foods.
4. ST. PATTY’S DAY PARADE
Everyone’s Irish for a day when Fargo-Moorhead celebrates St. Patrick’s Day in downtown Fargo. The parade gets underway at 1:00 pm, and the route begins at NP Ave and goes up Broadway, finishing at 6th Ave N.
5. FARGO FILM FESTIVAL
An international festival featuring independent, silent and classic films. Celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Fargo Theatre at this year’s opening night of the festival. The film festival includes films in the categories of Short Films, Student Films, Experimental Films, Documentary Feature Films, Animated Films and others. Films to be featured at the 2016 festival include Welcome to Leith, Big Voice, The Champion, Double-Blind No.1, Wildlike and many more.
6. ECO CHIC DESIGN CONFERENCE
Scheels ArenaDrew and Jonathan Scott of HGTV’s Property Brothers will headline the Eco Chic Design Conference at Scheels Arena, April 23, 2016. HGTV’s Clint Harp (“Fixer Upper”) will also be a featured speaker at the event.The Eco Chic Design Conference will be a day-long communion of those excited about home design, centered around the hottest trends in home improvement, furniture restoration, DIY tips and new ideas, as well as insight into the minds of the stars of HGTV’s two highest-rated local shows.The conference will also feature 25 local and regional company booths, offering a variety of new ideas and shopping opportunities, presented by: Eco Chic Boutique; Maria Roesch of Coldwell Banker; Accent Contracting; and Design & Living Magazine. Doors will open at 12 Noon.
Fargo locals Maria Bosak (Eco Chic Boutique; Junk Market) and Grain Designs will also be featured speakers, offering terrific insight (and their past success stories) into home design and furniture restoration.
There are a limited amount of VIP “Meet & Greet” opportunities available, and everyone sitting in the first seven rows will also receive a Swag Bag of items to take home with them. A limited number of tickets are available for this event.
7. FARGO-MOORHEAD CROSSROADS POWWOW
Enjoy the finest Native American dancers, singers and vendors in Fargo-Moorhead at the 1st Annual F-M Crossroads Powwow.
8. FARGO MARATHON
Run fast, run friendly, run Fargo at this exciting annual Boston Marathon qualifier event. Events include full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, Youth Run and Relay.
9. JUNK MARKET
A fun event that offers the best in repurposed furniture and vintage pieces – a wonderfully unique shopping opportunity that sparks creativity!
