Welcome to the information page of the 2004 International
Softball Congress (ISC) Men's World Fastball Tournament in
Fargo, N.D. Players, fans and visitors will find information
on the site regarding reserved tickets and parking, motels,
restaurants and activities in the Fargo-Moorhead area. A link
is provided for volunteers to contact the Tournament Committee.
On August 13-21, 2004, the Fargo-Moorhead Athletic Commission
will host the premier men's club fastball tournament in the
World. Forty teams and players from several countries around
the World will showcase their talents during the nine day
event. Amsterdam, N.Y., Broken Bow Spirit led by New Zealand
National team captain Jarrad Martin, Canadian pitching ace
Gerald Muizelaar and third baseman Jody Eidt, who was the
MVP at the 2003 ISC and the Canadian Nationals, will attempt
to defend the championship they won this past August in Kimberly,
WI. Veteran stars Michael White (USA National team), Darren
Zack (Canada) and Mark Sorenson (New Zealand) will face off
against a youth movement led by pitchers Lucas Mata (Venezuela),
Andrew Kirkpatrick (Australia) and Nick Underhill (Canada).
The Fargo Imaging Solutions Knights and Kegel Black Knights
are both expected to field teams in the 58th annual ISC event.
The Fargo-Moorhead area is no stranger to hosting fastpitch/fastball
tournaments. During the 1960's and 70's, fifty area teams
played in the annual Red River Valley single elimination open
tournament. Since 1976, Fargo's Mickelson Park complex has
been the host site for eight National and International tournaments
including the 1985 ISF Junior World Boys and Girls Championships.
An exciting new twist is being added in 2004 with the use
of Jack Williams Stadium as the centerpiece for the ISC World
Tournament. Jack Williams Stadium, with 2600 permanent seats
at the north end of Mickelson Park, has hosted the American
Legion Baseball World Series in 1983, 1992 and 1995.
The ISC II, with an additional forty teams, will converge
on Fargo and the Anderson softball complex for five days beginning
on August 15th. Billed as a "town team" caliber
tournament, the ISC II is expected to have several teams from
the Tri-State area competing for the championship.
The host organizing committee is looking forward to bringing
the 2004 ISC World Tournament to Fargo. Executive Director,
Paul Lybeck, can be contacted by email at plybeck@juno.com
